#70 A "sorry, I forgot I had a blog for a while there" UPDATE

Believe it or not, I work all the time... I'm just lazy >.> so I don't post months at a time lol.  To make it up to you, here's a dump of my art ventures.

isn't it beauuuutttiiifffuuulll???

Here's some progress on a band poster idea for the band Gorillaz...

Hehe playing with type is more fun than I originally thought :D
It's going to be my first "finished" piece made totally in adobe illustrator- wish me luck!

Poster comps!

For the Feast of the Flowering Moon as you can probably guess.  I'm debating which direction to go with this...graphic with more of an art nouveau feel or rendered and chunky...

#69 lines and shapes- planar structure

ack! glaaarreee!  Wish I could've used CHARCOAL.
I like this one cropped much better... I think it better shows the emotion of the pose and graphic styles.
Sorry about the bad pics, I might ink or scan some of these in later... because damn.

#68 Painting methods 1

Thought I'd share the progress of my methods 1st painting.  It's in oil and depicts "croc the mongol" trying to advance the Great wall of China with his cohort

I should have done this from the start

lol gross

Final
I suppose it's not...bad, given that most of the work I did on it was in a period of one night.  This will inspire me to put as much time as I can into these 'methods' projects, especially with oil paint!  I got a b+ from the teacher, but I gave myself a D.  There you go

Thumbs and ideas?

Design ideas for a festival poster in ohio.  I'll do either The Feast of The Flowering Moon  or Alefest (beer, yay!).  I'm leaning more towards Flowering moon because I love the Indian culture (Cherokee-holla) and feel like I could pull the best aesthetic from it.  Still working on the concept of lighting in it, though, because it's the festival of the MOON... so does that mean it should be at night TO SEE THE MOON?? No idea.
Feathers.
If it's at night, the moon could silhouette her head and there could be fire light reflecting off of her front side...? Hm.  Will do paint comps. Btw text would be in the corn there.
Lots of thumbs are needed... I'll get back to you on that...

Any comments or opinions are greatly appreciated!

Bus people

It could be YOU!
The more I look at it the more I hate the proportions... ink is funny that way.
